MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT HANDS OVER BUSIA MUNICIPALITY 3000 TONNE CAPACITY VALUE ADDITION PLANT

The Ministry of Local Government yesterday 14th July 2023, handed over the 3000 TONNE capacity value addition plant to RWAHI Investment Limited for utilization. The plant was constructed at cost of 15billion Shillings with support from Africa Development Bank (ADB) and Government of Uganda with an aim of improving Agricultural trade in the region. The handover ceremony presided over the handover, Benjamin Kumumanya PS MoLG  at the PLA site in Busia Municipality where he cautioned RWAHI to abide by the existing provided framework and ensure that local content is given priority. 

BUSIA LEADERSHIP PRAISED FOR HOSTING THE 27TH ANNUAL MEETING

On the 25-26Th May 2023, Busia District hosted the 27th Uganda Local Government Association, ULGA annual general meeting at Masafu in Golden Gardens. 
The meeting that was that was attended by several local government leaders across the country was opened by Hon. Victoria Rusoke Busingye, State Minister for Local Government Ministry of Local Government on 25th May 2023, a day before the main meeting.

Rt.Hon.Robinah Nabbanja on 11th March 2023 graced Busia District belated 37Th #NRA #LiberationDay celebrations at Bukwekwe P/S under the theme: “Our Resolute Effort To Transform Uganda is a Promise We Shall Fulfill”; Seek Justice From Tyrannical Governments Not With Your Hat In Your Hands But With A Rifle In Your Fist”.
The function gave platform for the CAO, Mr. Mukiibi Nasser to recount the tremendous achievements made by the NRM government in the various sectors of district since 1997 when the district was formed.

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST SEXUAL GENDER BASED VIOLENCE COMMEMORATION 2022

Under the theme;”UNITE! ACTIVISM TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS”The District Commemorated the 16Days of Activism Against SBV at Chango Macho with support from ASHWA and World Vision Uganda aiming at elimination of Violence against women.

During the commemoration, Children’s Parliament had a session where members shared different causes and forms of SGBV that affect young people, hinting on dangers and made call to office bearers including parents to join efforts towards having an SGBV free environment.

BUSIA DISTRICT COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES 

On 1st February 2023, Busia was joined by Hon. Hellen Asamo and a team from Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development to commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Masaba, Dream Special Needs School ( Mission for Disability) grounds under the theme; “Leadership and Mindset Change: A Tool For Inclusive development”.
