COUNCIL APPROVES CREATION OF LUMINO DISTRICT

On Monday 30th September, 2024, District Council held its first Sitting in the Financial year 2024/2025 in which it approved a motion to create #LuminoDistrict in a bid to extend services nearer to the people. The motion was moved by a private member of Council following a petition to the District Speaker by stakeholders in Samia Bugwe Central and South constituencies demanding for creation of Lumino District early this year.
The motion proposes Lumino District to include sub Counties of; Masinya, Masafu, Buhehe, Masaba, Majanji, Busime, Lumino, Lunyo and Lumino - Majanji Town Council.
In the same Sitting, a supplementary budget of 642,341,114/- was approved,
District Public Accounts Committee was filled with the following persons;
1. Mr. Oluma Alacho
2. Mr. Budoba Wilfred
3. Mr. Mudangi Zadock
The three will join, Ms. Namakwa Harriet and Ms. Nyakecho Grace to fully constitute the District Public Accounts Committee while Mr. Mudibo Richard Dickens was selected as a member to District Land Board as a member.
