AUMA TOPPY AGUBA SWEARS IN AS SECRETARY FOR WORKS AND TECHNICAL SERVICES

Congratulations to hon.Auma Toppy Aguba, who has today been officially sworn in as the Secretary for Works and Technical Services, following her approval by the District Council yesterday. While administering the oath, the CAO, Opolot Bernard Apollo encouraged her to serve with dignity and honour the oaths she had taken.

Toppy now joins, hon. Ojambo Wycliffe Ssumba secretary Finance, hon. Okuku Patrick, secretary Education, Health and Social Services, hon. Nakwanga Florence District vice Chairperson and Namayindi John Charles to fully constitute the District Executive Committee.

BUSIA DISTRICT REVIVES CIVIL MARRIAGES: ANEW CHAPTER FOR ACCESSIBLE UNIONS

 

On Monday, 2nd March 2026, at the District headquarters, Principal Assistant Secretary (PAS) Mr. Kayira Muhamud addressed a gathering of heads of department on a transformative update on behalf of the Chief Administrative Officer. "Busia is set to resume conducting civil marriages," he announced firmly, echoing the district's commitment to inclusive services. The game-changer comes from the recent opening of a dedicated account with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Uganda, streamlining registrations and eliminating previous bureaucratic hurdles.

MTN's EDU FARM PROJECT IMPACTS SCHOOLS

Today, we held a review and evaluation meeting for the Edu-Farm Project, proudly funded by the MTN Foundation. The meeting provided an important opportunity to reflect on the progress made so far, gather findings on how beneficiaries have benefited from the project, document key lessons, and assess how well the participating schools are positioned to sustain the initiative beyond the 6-month implementation period.

LUMINO, MAJANJI - LUMINO, TIIRA, MASAFU TOWN COUNCILS RECEIVE ICT EQUIPMENT

 The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Lubuuka David, recently presided over a significant handover ceremony at the district headquarters, where four sets of ICT equipment were officially distributed to four newly established town councils. The equipment-which included computers, printers, and UPS units—was handed over to the Acting Town Clerks of Lumino-Majanji, Tiira, Namungodi, and Masafu Town Councils.

ASSISTANT RDC, MWIDU SHARIF LAUNCHES EDUCATION CAPITAL PROJECT IN 5 PRIMARY SCHOOLS

On the 30th October, 2025, Mwidu Sharif,Assistant RDC launched five projects of construction of 2classroom blocks and supply of furniture in Primary Schools of Elim Namaubi (94,966,872/-),Bulecha (94,962,860/-), Bukobe (95,527,794/-), Busonga (94,890,996/-), and Sihubira (94,972,418/-) for the Financial year 2025/2026. All works have commenced on the day of the launch and will be completed in 6 months. While launching the projects, he cautioned all contractors on shoddy works and encouraged them to stick to the set government standards provided for in the bills of quantities approved.

BUSIA CHILD AND FAMILY PROTECTION UNIT RECEIVES MATTRESSES AND BLANKETS FOR RESCUED CHILDREN

Our partner Somero Uganda has today supported Busia Uganda Police Force Child and family Protection Unit with mattresses and blankets to supplement on the available rest facilities so as to have a safe, child friendly environment for the rescued children before transition or resettlement.
