BUSIA AREA COMMUNITIES FEDERATION REACHES OUT TO 1370 VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND YOUTHS IN THE DISTRICT

Today our medical team joined Busia Area Communities Federation for medical screening camps in Buyengo,Buhasaba and Buhenye communities that were providing free medical checks,diagnosis and treatment to vulnerable children and youth enrolled on ChildFund Uganda Sponsorship.

The activity reached 1370 children and youths. The ADHO in charge of environmental Health, Wamaena Dick and the Senior DHE, Ouma Fredrick provided oversight supervision of the exercise as well as sensitizing on #Mpox and #Ebola

MALAC AGRI PROJECT PASSES OUT 20 FARMERS OF THE 7TH COHORT

Deputy RDC,Grace Kanuna has today passed out 20 farmers (15 female and 5 male) of 7th cohort trained by MELAC Agri Project in agronomy in Bustema.Melac Agri project is a Christian faith based organization that was founded by Louis Lakitari to train households in modern agronomy to improve household incomes and increase food security through application of modern agriculture.
While giving his remarks Lakitari shared his vision of transforming local communities through agriculture which is the backbone of Uganda.

RDC COMMISSIONS FOUR HEALTH PROJECTS

The Resident District Commissioner,Namagogwe Hajjira yesterday commissioned four completed Health projects to allow the beneficiaries use the facilities; OPD block at Buwembe HCIII costes at 145,643,192, 2in 1 staff house at Buwumba at 174,259,632/-  at Buwembe, a maternity ward at Buwumba HCIII at 174,259,632 and a 2 in 1 staff house also at Buwembe HCIII constructed in the previous two financial years.
She warned health workers against sell of drugs and encouraged the community members to jealously protect the facilities so as to improve health services in the area.

DISTRICT COUNCIL PAYS TRIBUTE TO TAAKA FLORENCE

The District Council convened for a special session on 6th February 2025 to eulogise the fallen District Women Chairperson,Taaka Florence. The deceased was a wife to hon. Julius Muganda, the former minister of State for East African Affairs and former Member of Parliament for Samia Bugwe South.
Members of Council, family, National Women Council and District Council praised the late for entrepreneurial skills and exemplary life she lived as a leader.
She passed on last Sunday when she was run over by a speeding car.
May her soul rest in peace.

BUSIA AREA COMMUNITIES FEDERATION GRADUATES 60 YOUTHS IN SKILLS

As we continue to embrace vocational skills training, the district Chairperson Mugeni Stephen Wasike today, 12 December, 2014 joined Busia Area Communities Federation to preside over a graduation of 60 skilled youths who have been supported to undergo training for 6months at Pioneer Technical Institute - Iganga. The youths who attained skills in tailoring, hairdressing among other skills were given start up kits to enable them start practicing the acquired skills and knowledge to sustain themselves, their families and also transfer knowledge to others.

As we continue to involve young people in meaningful engagement, yesterday EASSI an organization under PowerToYouthUganda consortium supported an intergenerational dialogue on key issues affecting young people in Buteba.#Discomatanga still emerged as one of harmful practices leading to teenage pregnancy, school dropout and early marriages despite various interventions. This points towards having a regulation as noted by the District Vice Chairperson, Nasisamba Christine and Assistant RDC, Doreen Nafuna who was the Chief guest.

BUSIA STANBIC BANK BRANCH DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO MASAFU GENERAL HOSPITAL

Stanbic Bank - Uganda Busia branch has donated Medical supplies including Patient Monitor,Mama-kits and delivery bed to Masafu General Hospital under corporate Social responsibility.The items are intended to reduce morbidity and mortality rates in maternal and child health.
Masafu Hospital the previous quarter conducted 800 deliveries over and above the anticipated number and limited equipment.

BUSIA COMMUNITIES AREA FEDERATION (BUACOFE) EQUIPS GIRL CHANGING ROOMS IN BUSIA DISTRICT

As we Celebrate the #GirlChild, Busia Area Communities Federation has put a smile to the girl child’s face again by providing sanitary supplies to 15 Primary Schools in their area of operation to equip Girl Changing rooms. Items including sanitary pads,Bar Soap,Basins and Smearing Jelly have been distributed. The Secretary of Finance, Peter Nakeri launched the distribution of the items at their offices today.
He cautioned the Headteachers to ensure the items serve the purpose for which they are intended.

COUNCIL APPROVES CREATION OF LUMINO DISTRICT

On Monday 30th September, 2024, District Council held its first Sitting in the Financial year 2024/2025 in which it approved a motion to create #LuminoDistrict in a bid to extend services nearer to the people. The motion was moved by a private member of Council following a petition to the District Speaker by stakeholders in Samia Bugwe Central and South constituencies demanding for creation of Lumino District early this year.

UPTO 48 MILLION SHILLINGS OF YOUTH LIVELIHOOD PROJECT- YLP FUNDS DISBURSED TO TEN YOUTH GROUPS IN BUSIA DISTRICT

Today we have disbursement upto 48 million shillings under Youth Livelihood Project (YLP) to ten youth groups across the district following finalization of signing all the required paperwork at the District. The group leaders were engaged by the District Community Development Officer, OKumu Semu on financial literacy and cautioned on putting the funds into the right use.
The ten groups include:
1. Kamu- Kamu Youth Piggery group.
2. Obwicha Buhira Ehonge
3. Angarama Young Women Piggery Group
4. Sibarara South Youth Group
