259 FARMERS GRADUATE IN FOREST GARDENING

Today,259 farmers from Masaba and Lunyo sub Counties have graduated after a 4 years practical skills training by Trees for the Future in forest gardening and general modern organic farming.
The RDC, Namagogwe Hajjira presided over the graduation on behalf of Amb.Hon.Nekesa Barbra at Lunyo Sub County Headquarters.
The function was graced by a number of dignitaries from the two sub Counties and the the District including the District Woman Member of Parliament, Auma Hellen Wandera.
The RDC recognized the need for environmental conservation and appreciated the organization for moving in the direction the government is taking in combating climate change through environmental protection.
All speeches by invited guests pointed to the need to have the program rolled over to other sub Counties since it promoted improvement of soil fertility through organic means and therefore would improve production and productivity without affecting the environment.
In concluding the function, RDC handed over certificates and five water tanks to the 5 best performers and delivered 2million shillings from hon.Amb. Nekesa Barbra to the farmers to purchase more seedlings to keep practicing the acquired skills.
